17 students at TCU are arrested for selling drugs on campus
- News feed was blowing up Wednesday morning with updates in the TCU drug bust story, locally and nationally.

- TCU Drug Arrest: Tanner Brock, Three Other Football Players ...

10 hours ago ... CNNLive #TCU officials discuss arrests in campus #drug bust. ... 17 Students Arrested in TCU Drug Bust | NBC 5 Dallas-... - “17 students, including four football players, arrested on drug charges at #TCU, according to news conference. Story to come on ESPNDallas.
- TCU did not try to hide the story. They addressed the issue professionally and let students know that this sort of behavior will not be tolerated at TCU. I think they did a good job from the get-go.
- “17 students were arrested for selling drugs on and off campus. It was a coordinated effort between TCU and FW police departments.
- “TCU Chancellor Victor J. Boschini, Jr. shares important news with the campus community. newsevents.tcu.edu/2482.asp
- “Chancellor Boschini says, we are not going to tolerate this. If you want to do something like this you shouldn't be at TCU.
- TCU's head football coach also expressed his feelings...
- “Quote from the TCU coach & I think it says it all - what a shame for such an awesome football team! "There are days people want to be a head football coach, but today is not one of those days," Patterson said in a statement. "As I heard the news this morning, I was first shocked, then hurt and now I’m mad.
- As the story continued to spread, the names of the arrested students were released...
- And while that was happening, so was this...
- “Wow. Somebody is tweeting links to the FB pages of people arrested in the TCU drug raid. No, I'm not RTing. #untj4210 #untj4470
- By having those student's Facebook page links tweeted, numerous people gained access to a communication channel with not only the arrested students but with their family and friends as well. We discussed in class how the elements of this story can affect a persons privacy. How does the TCU PR Department handle this? What can they do to attempt to keep the family information private without looking suspicious as though they may be trying to hide something?
- Some people made jokes about the issue...
- But some people reminded others to not be "holier than thou" because drug usage is present on all college campuses according to student sources...
- “people are acting like TCU is such a horrible school now. its awk because the same thing goes on at your school too...
- “RT @gabperd: I don't understand why it's such a big deal about TCU & why they're getting bashed. It isn't like that doesn't go on at every other college.
- “RT @kayelajenkins: AMEN "@ellacoffey: Everybodys hatin on #TCU. Newsflash, every school has drugs..”
- Great crisis plan implementation on TCUs part by releasing a FAQ page for people seeking more information...
- Staying true to their Christian roots, TCU held a prayer vigil on campus to pray for those involved and for others affiliated with the university.
- “TCU students held a prayer vigil on campus tonight. The photos are uploaded here: flickr.com/photos/texaschr...
- Will this help their image? While TCU hopes so, not everyone seems to think so at the moment...
- “Bahahaha. TCU is setting up a prayer vigil for the students that got caught selling drugs. #hilarious
- “Are students really having a prayer vigil at TCU because of the drug issue? Because praying about it is going to fix it? Haha #DumbPeople
- While this issue is still growing by the minute, I think TCU should just keep doing what they are doing. They let everyone know that what happened is not acceptable and they are going to do everything in their power to fix the problem. They did not try to hide the story. They released the information to the public, posted a letter and FAQ sheet on their website, held a press conference to address the issue in front of the media and held a prayer vigil to unify the student body and give them hope that it will get better. People do dumb things because they can. It's not the university's fault, they are trying to fix the problem.
